Fast, Reliable Emergency Locksmith Across Las Vegas
Locked out at 2 AM near Summerlin Parkway, or standing outside a rental turnover in Henderson with a deadbolt that won’t budge? Emergency locksmith service in Las Vegas typically costs $95 to $240 for a standard house lockout and is usually handled within 30 to 45 minutes from dispatch. Our crews work the valley around the clock, from North Las Vegas to Green Valley, and we quote every job in writing on the phone before anyone rolls a truck. Call (331) 310-8471 and you’ll reach a live person who can give you a firm price right then, not a range that changes when the tech arrives.
We’re Novak Lock & Security. Since 2002, we’ve built our name on one rule: the price you hear on the phone is the price on the invoice. Haven Standard Clause 1. No exceptions, no doorstep surprises, no bait pricing. That’s how Daniel Novak built the business, and that’s how every tech in a Novak van operates in Las Vegas, day or night.
Why Novak Lock & Security Is Las Vegas’s Preferred Emergency Locksmith Company
Las Vegas is not a 9-to-5 city. Casino shifts end at 4 AM. Bartenders and nurses and valets come home at odd hours, and when a key snaps in a deadbolt at 3 AM on a Sunday, they need a locksmith who answers the phone and tells them the truth about what it will cost. We do. Our dispatchers are trained to quote firm prices, not to get a truck out and then renegotiate on the doorstep. That practice is common in this trade, especially in a city with the call volume Las Vegas has. We don’t do it. Ever.
Our response time to most Las Vegas neighborhoods is 30 to 45 minutes. If you’re in Summerlin, Green Valley, or central Las Vegas near the 95 and Rainbow, we’re usually faster than that. If you’re out near the edge of North Las Vegas or a newer subdivision on the far west side, it might be closer to the 45-minute mark. You’ll get an honest ETA when you call, and the tech’s name before they arrive. Uniformed, background-checked, and carrying a documented photo record kit. When the job’s done, you get a written record of what was found, what was done, and what it cost. Not a promise. A procedure.
Our Emergency Locksmith Services in Las Vegas

24/7 Emergency Lockout
Locked out is the most common call we take in Las Vegas, and it comes in evenly across all hours. The city’s round-the-clock work culture means a 3 AM lockout is as routine as a 2 PM one. We open standard residential locks non-destructively in most cases. For a Kwikset or Schlage with a pin-and-tumbler cylinder, that’s a pick or a bump-resistant bypass. For smart locks with degraded keypads, we remove the cylinder and override without drilling the door. The goal is always to get you in without turning a $150 lockout into a $400 door replacement.
Broken Key Extraction
Keys break in Las Vegas more often than people expect, usually because the brass has weakened from years of use or because a key was cut on a worn blank. When a key snaps in a lock on a Henderson rental door or a North Las Vegas deadbolt, we extract it with a spiral extractor or a broken-key puller, then cut a fresh key from the original if it’s intact or rekey the cylinder if the keyway is damaged. We’ll tell you which is needed before we start, in writing.
Safe Opening
Safes are common in Las Vegas homes, especially among residents who keep cash, jewelry, or documents at home. When a safe won’t open, whether it’s a dial combination, an electronic keypad, or a key-override model, we open it by manipulation or drilling as a last resort. For electronic safes, the problem is often a dead battery or a worn keypad, and we’ll tell you that before we touch the drill. If we do drill, we quote the opening cost and the repair cost in writing before the first hole. Many safes in the valley are SentrySafe or Gardall. We work on both and everything in between.
Eviction Lock Change
Las Vegas has a high-turnover rental market, and property managers know that a lock change after eviction or tenant departure is not optional. It’s a liability issue. We do eviction lock changes in North Las Vegas, central Las Vegas, and Henderson regularly, often on short notice. We’ll swap or rekey the cylinder, document the work with a photo record, and leave you with a written scope of what was done and when. If you need a new key system for the property, we’ll explain the difference between rekeying and full replacement and quote both before anything is touched.

Trusted Brands We Service in Las Vegas
We service and install the full range of lock hardware found in Las Vegas homes, from entry-grade Schlage and Kwikset to high-security Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, and Baldwin. If your home has an older Yale mortise lock that’s original to the house, we can rekey or repair it. We stock common cylinders, pins, and key blanks for the brands most common in the valley, which means most rekeys and cylinder swaps are done same-day without waiting on a parts order. Medeco and Mul-T-Lock restricted keyways require factory authorization, which we hold. That means we can duplicate or rekey those cylinders in-house rather than sending you back to the original installer.
Common Emergency Locksmith Problems We See in Las Vegas Homes

The housing stock in Las Vegas creates specific lock problems that don’t show up the same way in other cities. Here’s what we see most often:
- Heat-seized deadbolts on 1990s stucco tract homes. Summer temperatures past 110°F cause steel door frames and deadbolt throw-plates to expand, which makes bolts that worked fine in the morning bind by mid-afternoon. We diagnose this constantly from June through August, especially on west-facing doors in Summerlin and Green Valley. The fix is often a strike plate adjustment or a dry PTFE lubricant, not a new lock.
- Degraded rubber seals on electronic keypad locks. The extreme UV and near-zero humidity in Las Vegas dry out and crack rubber keypad membranes on Kwikset, Schlage, and Yale smart locks. Once the seal goes, dust gets into the circuit board and the keypad stops reading. We keep UV-resistant replacement keypads in stock for the brands most common in the valley.
- Forcing modern deadbolts into warped original doors. A lot of Las Vegas homes from the 1980s and early 1990s have original wood or steel doors that have settled. When a handyman or a cut-rate locksmith forces a standard modern deadbolt into a misaligned mortise pocket, the bolt binds and eventually seizes, usually on the hottest day of the year. We see the repair call a week later. The right fix is to align the pocket and the strike, sometimes with a custom mortise adjustment, before installing the bolt.
- Petroleum lubricant on July locks. Standard petroleum-based lubricants evaporate within weeks in Las Vegas’s dry heat, leaving pin-and-tumbler mechanisms worse than before. We use dry PTFE or graphite. This is a Las Vegas-specific service cycle issue, and if your lock keeps seizing after a quick WD-40 fix from someone else, that’s why.
One thing that makes Las Vegas uniquely different from any neighboring city: the HOA gated communities. Summerlin, Henderson, and Green Valley are heavily gated with wrought-iron perimeter fencing and HOA-controlled access points. That means emergency rekeying after investor turnover or tenant departure is a structural part of residential locksmith work here. Community master-key systems, gate operator hardware, and restricted keyways all require a locksmith who understands the hierarchy and can rekey without disrupting the whole community system. We do that work regularly.

- Standard house lockout: $95 to $180, depending on the lock type and time of day. Most standard pin-tumbler cylinders are on the lower end.
- Broken key extraction: $75 to $140, plus the cost of a new key if you need one cut on site.

FAQs - Emergency Locksmith in Las Vegas

Can you open my Las Vegas house door without drilling during a late-night lockout?
Yes, in most cases. A standard Schlage or Kwikset pin-tumbler cylinder can open non-destructively with picking or a bump-resistant bypass. We open about 90% of residential lockouts in Las Vegas without drilling. If we do have to drill, we’ll tell you before we start and quote the replacement cost in writing. Call (331) 310-8471 and we’ll walk you through what to expect before dispatch.
My deadbolt binds in the afternoon during Las Vegas summers. Do I need a new lock?
Not usually. In the summer, when temperatures pass 110°F, the steel frame and throw-plate expand enough to bind a bolt that worked fine that morning. The most common fix is a strike plate adjustment or a dry PTFE lubricant, not a new lock. If the bolt binds repeatedly and won’t throw even after alignment, the cylinder itself may be worn and a replacement makes sense. We’ll diagnose it on site and tell you which it is before any work is done.
Can you rekey my HOA gate lock to work with a new community master key system?
Yes, we do this work regularly for HOAs in Summerlin, Henderson, and Green Valley. We’ll rekey the cylinder to the new community master key system and verify that the gate operator hardware integrates correctly with the new key hierarchy. We quote this on a per-cylinder basis in writing, and we document the work with a photo record so the HOA board has a written record of what was done.
My rental property in North Las Vegas just turned over. How quickly can you change the locks?
Usually within 24 to 48 hours, and often same-day for lockouts or urgent rekeys. We’ll rekey the cylinder rather than replace the whole lock if the hardware is in good condition, which costs less and restores key control just as effectively. You get a written record and photo documentation, which matters for eviction or security deposit disputes. Call (331) 310-8471 for a firm quote.
Do you work on mortise locks in older Las Vegas homes?
Yes, and this is where Las Vegas’s housing stock creates a specific problem. Older homes from the 1980s and earlier often have mortise locks built into the door, not surface-mounted deadbolts. A lot of locksmiths will quote a full replacement for an obsolete mortise cylinder. We’ll rekey the existing cylinder when the hardware is sound, which is faster and cheaper. If the mortise pocket is worn or the mechanism is failing, we’ll say so and quote a replacement. We don’t sell new hardware you don’t need.
Locked out in Las Vegas? Call (331) 310-8471 any hour, any day. You’ll get a live person, a firm price in writing on the phone, and a background-checked Novak tech at your door within 30 to 45 minutes. No bait pricing, no doorstep surprises, no pressure. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to every emergency call. If it’s not done right, we make it right.
