Mention the offer when you book. One offer per household per visit; offers can’t be combined with each other and don’t apply to work already quoted or completed. Local pricing and availability vary by location - your local Novak Lock & Security team confirms the final price in writing before any work begins.
Every job is priced the same way: a free written estimate
We price the job, not the hour. Before anyone touches anything, you get the full price for the specific work in writing - no hourly meter, no membership to join, no financing to sign, and no line items added afterwards. If the number isn’t right for you, the estimate is still free and you owe us nothing.
How We Price Locksmith Work
Every job at Novak Lock & Security is priced job-by-job off a free written estimate. No hourly rate, no plan to sign up for, nothing to join. Before anyone touches your lock, your door, or your car, you see the full number in writing – and that number is what appears on the invoice.
That’s not a policy we added later. It’s the rule Daniel Novak built the business on in 2002, and the one Haven adopted across all ten brands in its family. The dispatcher quotes a firm price on the phone. The technician is not permitted to change it at the door. If we find something unexpected once we’re inside the job, we stop, explain what we found, and give you a revised written price before we go any further. You always have the option to say no.
In a trade with a well-known bait-and-switch problem, that single rule is still the whole business.
What a Visit Actually Costs You to Find Out

Nothing. The estimate is free.
When we come out, we look at the lock, the door, or the situation – whatever brought you to call us. We tell you what we found, in plain terms, and we write down what it will cost to fix it. That happens before any work starts. The visit itself takes as long as it takes to do that properly, which is usually not long. You get a written price, a clear scope, and a straight answer on timing. If you decide not to go ahead, we leave. No charge, no pressure, no follow-up call asking you to reconsider.
That’s what calling us costs you: a conversation and a few minutes of your time.
When People Usually Call Us
Lockouts happen at the worst times. Late at night coming home from a long shift. The first cold snap of the year, standing in the driveway in the dark. The week between Christmas and New Year’s when everything feels slightly off-schedule. We know this because we’ve been taking those calls since 2002, and the pattern doesn’t change much.
Rekeying clusters around different moments. Move-in day is the most common – new house, old keys, no idea who has copies. Tenant turnover brings a version of the same call. So does a lost key set, a breakup, or the week after something happens on the block that makes a neighbor rethink who has access to what.
Lock upgrades tend to come from research. Someone reads about a specific vulnerability, decides their current deadbolt isn’t doing the job, and wants to talk through the options between a Schlage entry-grade and something in the Medeco or Mul-T-Lock range.
Whatever brought you here, the process is the same: written price first, work second, documented record when we’re done.
What You Can Expect From Us Either Way

The standards below apply to every job, regardless of which offer is on the page when you call.
- Written price before any work starts. Every time, for every customer, with no exceptions. This is Clause 1 of The Haven Standard and the rule this business was built on.
- 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not done right, we make it right. That applies to lock installations, rekeying jobs, and emergency calls.
- Documented photo record. Every visit leaves a documented photo record with the customer. Not an upgrade – standard procedure on every job since we adopted The Haven Standard.
- Background-checked, uniformed technicians. The person who shows up works to The Haven Standard. Their name is on the job before they arrive.
- A live person on the phone, around the clock. No voicemail queue, no automated system. If you call at 2 a.m., a person answers.
- Factory-authorized work on the full range of lock brands – from Kwikset and Schlage at the entry level to Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, and Abloy at the high-security end.
Sixty thousand locks, keys, and systems since 2002. Every one with a written price before we started and a documented record when we left.
Common Questions
Is the estimate really free?
Yes. There is no charge for the estimate visit, and no obligation to proceed once you have the written price in hand. If you decide not to move forward, the technician leaves and that’s the end of it. Call (331) 310-8471 and we’ll set a time that works.
Do you offer financing or a monthly plan?
No, and that’s deliberate. Every job is priced off a free written estimate, which means you see the full number before anyone starts – no installment math, no plan to read the fine print on, nothing to sign up for. The written estimate is the whole answer to the cost question.
Can I combine two offers?
One offer per household per visit. If you’re not sure which applies to your situation, the person who answers the phone can walk you through it before anyone is dispatched. Call (331) 310-8471 and ask.
Does the price change once you’re here?
No. The written estimate is the price on the invoice, and the technician is not permitted to change it at the door – that rule has been in place since 2002. If we open up a job and find something that wasn’t visible in the estimate, we stop and give you a revised written price before we continue. You decide whether to go ahead.
