Abloy Commercial Locksmith in New York City: What to Know First

We provide independent Abloy commercial locksmith service across New York City, from Midtown office towers to industrial shops in Long Island City and retail storefronts in Flatbush. Most Abloy repairs, rekeys, and cylinder replacements are completed the same day we arrive, and every job starts with a written price quoted on the phone before a technician is dispatched. That price is the price on the invoice, no exceptions, and it has worked that way since 2002.

Call (331) 310-8471

This page is for property managers, business owners, and facilities staff who run Abloy locks and need a locksmith who knows the difference between an Abloy Classic and an Abloy Protec2, and who won’t pretend that standard pin-tumbler tools will get the job done. If you’re locked out of an Abloy-secured space right now, call (331) 310-8471 and a live person will answer.

How Abloy Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Abloy locks don’t fail the way a Kwikset or Schlage lock fails. They don’t wear down from picking attempts, and they rarely just stop turning for no reason. What we actually see in New York City is a specific set of recurring issues, and most of them have nothing to do with the cylinder itself.

  • Abloy Classic rim cylinders with frozen disc packs. The Abloy Classic uses rotating discs rather than pins, and after years of exposure to New York City humidity and the fine grit that blows through elevator shafts and loading docks, those discs bind. The key goes in but won’t rotate fully. This is a lubricant-and-grit problem, not a broken lock. We disassemble, clean the disc pack, and replace only what’s worn, which usually saves the cylinder.
  • Abloy Protec2 cylinders with lost keys (and no key card). Protec2 cylinders ship with a key card that’s required for ordering additional keys. Owners lose the card. We walk them through obtaining a replacement card through the original dealer, or if the cylinder has been in place long enough and the system needs to expand, we quote a cylinder kit replacement with full documentation. You can’t just cut a Protec2 key at a hardware counter.
  • Misaligned strikes on Abloy deadbolts in prewar buildings. New York City buildings settle, especially the walk-ups. Doors drop a quarter inch over thirty years, and the bolt no longer lines up with the strike plate. The Abloy cylinder isn’t failing; the door is out of line. We reposition the strike, adjust the hinges, and the lock works like it did when it was installed.
  • Abloy padlocks and hasps in outdoor commercial storage. In Chelsea, Red Hook, and Hunts Point, we see Abloy padlocks caked in road salt and marine air. Shackles corrode, and the lock body seizes. If the shackle hasn’t been compromised, we can often rebuild the padlock. If the body is cracked or the shackle is pitted through, replacement is cheaper than repair, and we’ll tell you that in writing.
  • Non-Abloy keys forced into Abloy cylinders. This happens more than people want to admit. A janitor or a temp worker jams a similar-looking key into an Abloy lock, bends a wafer, and the cylinder stops accepting the correct key. The fix is extraction and repair or cylinder replacement, and it’s a good reminder that Abloy systems should never be handed to someone who doesn’t understand them.

Our Abloy Commercial Locksmith Process

Our Abloy Commercial Locksmith Process

Every Abloy job follows the same documented sequence, whether it’s a single storefront deadbolt in Astoria or a six-door office suite in the Financial District.

  1. 1
You call and describe the problem. We ask what Abloy series you have, what the lock is doing, and whether you have the key card. The dispatcher quotes a firm price range before anyone leaves the shop.
  2. 2
We arrive and document the existing condition. The technician photographs the lock, the door, the frame, and the surrounding hardware before touching anything. This is the baseline record.
  3. 3
We diagnose and name the exact problem. Worn disc pack, dropped door, corroded shackle, jammed wafer. We show you what we found in plain language.
  4. 4
Parts decision: OEM Abloy or quality equivalent. For cylinders and key-related components, we recommend Abloy OEM parts to preserve your system integrity. For strikes, hinges, and peripheral hardware, we often use commercial-grade equivalents that cost less and perform identically. You get the recommendation in writing before we order or install anything.
  5. 5
The repair or replacement, bench-tested before mounting. Any cylinder we install is cycled and checked on the bench before it goes into the door. This catches defective parts before they become your problem.
  6. 6
Final test with your keys, then documentation. We cycle the lock with the actual keys you’ll be using, recheck the strike alignment, and photograph the finished work. You receive the full photo record and written warranty before we leave.

Haven Standard Clause 1 applies at every step: the price on the phone is the price on the invoice. We do not add a call-out surcharge on arrival, and we never amend a quote upward at the door.

What Abloy Commercial Locksmith Costs in New York City

Real numbers, because hiding the price is how this trade earned its reputation for bait-and-switch, and we built Novak Lock & Security to be the exception. Here’s what Abloy commercial work typically runs in New York City:

Service Typical Price Range
Abloy cylinder repair (disc pack cleaning/rebuild) $95-$180 per cylinder
Abloy commercial rekey (Classic or Protec2, with key card) $25-$45 per cylinder, plus keys
Lost key card / Protec2 cylinder replacement kit $120-$260 per cylinder, installed
Abloy deadbolt or rim cylinder install (parts included) $180-$340 per opening
Commercial lockout with Abloy cylinder (non-destructive) $85-$160, flat rate quoted before dispatch
Abloy padlock or hasp replacement (commercial grade) $60-$140 installed

What moves the price: the Abloy series (Protec2 costs more than Classic), the number of cylinders in the system, whether your key card is available, and the condition of the door and frame. We quote the full price on the phone before a technician is dispatched, and that price is the price on the invoice. No call-out surcharge, no “parts adjustment” on arrival. Call (331) 310-8471 for an exact written estimate.

Why New York City Homeowners Call Novak Lock & Security for Abloy Work

Why New York City Homeowners Call Novak Lock & Security for Abloy Work

Most locksmiths in New York City carry pin-tumbler tools and a drill. Abloy locks are disc-based, and the moment someone starts drilling an Abloy cylinder, the door frame usually ends up needing more work than the lock did. We service Abloy the way it was designed to be serviced: with the right diagnostic approach and the right parts.

We’ve been doing this since 2002, led by Daniel Novak, who grew up in Astoria two blocks from the elevated N train and has worked New York City doors and cylinders for nearly two decades. He learned the trade at Queensborough Community College and apprenticed under a locksmith who serviced Midtown commercial accounts. The name on the van is the same name on the invoice, and that’s the whole point.

Every Abloy visit includes a background-checked, uniformed technician, a documented photo record left with you at completion, and a written warranty. If the correct Abloy part isn’t the right solution for your situation, we’ll say so and install the Schlage, Kwikset, or Medeco hardware that fits the job, priced in writing before we start.
